J&J VETERANS AND FIRST-TIMERS SCORE WINS IN SPRINT CAR ACTION
McKENZIE - TN (May 7) - Sprint car racing continued to pick up steam across the United States last weekend and the J&J Auto Racing teams continued to show their early season strength. Veterans Keith Kauffman, Terry Gray, Brad McClelland and Donny Schatz were victorious and were joined by youngsters Blane Heimbach, TJ Winegardner and Glenndon Forsythe, who also put J&J cars into victory lane.
WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY - 410
Hall of Fame sprint car racer Keith Kauffman continued his winning ways on Friday night with a hard fought victory at Williams Grove Speedway. Kauffman wheeled the Middleswarth No. 7 J&J into the lead on lap nine and had a spirited duel with Fred Rahmer in the No. 51 J&J. The two Sprint car legends put on a show for the fans and at the end it was Kauffman by a half a car length.
WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY - 358
Glenndon Forsythe took advantage his front row starting position to pick up his first career victory at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night. Forsythe drove the No. 5 Shipp Construction/Shetron Auctioneer/Pancho's Racing Products sponsored J&J into the lead early and held off current Bass Pro Shops point leader Pat Cannon to score the victory.
USCS - Sugar Creek Raceway
T.J. Winegardner scored a win in Blue Ridge, Georgia on Friday night at Sugar Creek Raceway. Winegardner raced the No. 11T Stick's Pest Control/ATL/Floridashorttrackreport.com sponsored J&J to victory in the OReilly USCS Outlaw Thunder presented by Lucas Oil victory 30-lap feature event.
Winegardner started on the outside of row one and chased early leader Shane Butler before taking the lead following a lap four restart. Once in front, he never looked back leading the final twenty-six caution free laps to score his first career USCS Feature win.
Josh Weller (No. 63 J&J), six-time and defending OReilly USCS National Champion Terry Gray (No. 10 J&J) and Lance Moss (No. 23 J&J) gave J&J a clean sweep of the top four positions.
CLINTON COUNTY SPEEDWAY
Blane Heimbach needed all 20 laps to race the Creasy Heimbach Racing Team's No. 12 J&J to a victory last Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway season opener. Heimbach started 8th and worked his way into a battle for second with five laps remaining. When leader Matt Heimbach had problems, it became a two-car duel to the end. Heimbach made his winning move by going high in turns three and four on the final lap to pick up his 19th career win at the track. The win was the team's second of the season.
Bob Howard brought home the No. 49 J&J fourth in the feature event.
TRAIL-WAY SPEEDWAY
Brad McClelland made it two straight on Friday night with his victory at Trail-Way Speedway. McClelland started his No. 6 B&D Truck Hoist/J&K Salvage/VMAC Racing sponsored J&J eighth in the field and worked his way up to second by lap 13. After a heated battled with Jeff Rohrbaugh, McClelland nosed in front for good to pick up his 12th career win at the track.
WORLD OF OUTLAWS - Knoxville Raceway
Donny Schatz proved he's the man to beat at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway on Saturday night scoring his first Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint series victory in the Tony Stewart Racing No. 15 Armor All/Chevy/ParkerStore sponsored J&J. Schatz set fast time, won the first heat and claimed the feature win, his fifth victory in his last seven starts at the track.
"This J&J car is awesome," remarked Schatz following his 71st career WoO "A" Feature win. "We've raced it twice. Both times, we've been quick time and tonight we won the feature with it as well. This feels pretty good."
Riverside International Speedway
Terry Gray led a brigade of J&J racers to the finish line on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway in W. Memphis, AR. Gray drove his No. 10 J&J to victory ahead of Derek Hagar (No. 9jr) and Eddie Gallagher (No. 1 J&J).
Other Strong J&J finishes
Fred Rahmer backed up his second place finish on Friday night with a runner-up finish on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway driving the No. 51J&J of Chad and Jen Clemens... current All-Star Circuit of Champions points leader, Lance Dewease, finished fourth (Catocin Motorsports No. 30c J&J).
